SHIATSU......

This ancient Japanese bodywork system can help increase a general sense of wellbeing and can reduce pain by encouraging the free flow of energy or ‘ki’.
Shiatsu translates as 'finger pressure'. We usually work on the floor so that we can employ the relaxed use of our bodyweight to stretch, release and lean into different areas of the Receiver's body. It is an incredibly relaxing experience and we use our fingers, hands, elbows, arms, feet to apply pressure and stimulate points on the 'meridians' or energy lines. As in acupuncture, the twelve Meridians that we use are linked to different organs and body functions. The amount of pressure applied (or not) depends on what the Receiver needs, according to diagnosis. We diagnose two meridians to work on, based on what we find in the Hara. This is the belly, the centre of our energy.
Regular treatment can restore balance and strengthen immunity. A one off session can be deeply restorative and increase vitality.
It is a practical and versatile holistic healing system which includes looking, without judgement, at lifestyle, the body's rhythms, diet and past health history in order to make realistic, positive and lasting changes.
I am fully insured and a Registered Member of the Shiatsu Society (MRSS). Practitioners are listed at www.shiatsusociety.com
In my work, I come across many people who are affected by issues around food. There are many reasons for this which I will always look at as part of treatment but for anyone who has a restricted diet and a specific food intolerance, I would recommend having a look at www.sensitivefoodies.com This is an excellent resource written by two women living with MS.
Relax with a loved one….
Shiatsu, Reflexology
or Indian Head Massage for Couples

Heather Banks and I began couples’ Shiatsu treatments when we were working at a festival.
With two Practitioners, and two futons, lie side by side with your partner or loved one and receive a one hour Shiatsu Treatment.
These sessions have become very popular and provide a rare chance to chill out and connect with someone you care about in a relaxed and lighthearted way.
"Mary provides excellent Shiatsu for my wife and I. We have been visiting her and her colleague Heather on a monthly basis for 3 years now. Each visit is different, with a bespoke treatment to address all the stresses and strains that have happened in the past month!
Repeated treatments over time have enabled Mary and Heather to work more closely and in a very specific manner, to focus on e.g. injuries and provide sustained Shiatsu treatment over time.
This is highly recommended - an essential way to unwind, relax and 're-balance' yourself each month."
“I am delighted to be working with Shiatsu Society (UK).
I believe that modern medicine and complementary therapies can often work together to achieve the best results for patients. Using a practitioner from the Shiatsu Society (UK)
assures you of professional, expert attention.”

Reflexology.....

A treatment completely focussed on the feet………
In Reflexology, the feet are a map of the whole body and different points are massaged and stimulated to connect with different organs and body functions via zones, or energy lines to balance and restore energy. Effective for both acute and chronic conditions.
Our feet work very hard for us and often get forgotten about. Focussing attention on the feet is a wonderful way to relax and heal the whole body.

Indian Head Massage......
This very relaxing forty minute treatment includes massage of the face, head, neck, shoulders and upper back.
Different oils can be used to condition the hair and scalp, stimulate hairgrowth and release muscular tension.
This treatment can also be done without the use of oil, which makes it a great little workplace treat. Fantastic for eyestrain and headaches.
